JOHN HIATT AND THE AGELESS BEAUTIES
More than thirty years after the release of his debut album, John Hiatt remains one of America's most respected and influential singer songwriters. Revered for his keen wit, narrative flair and refusal to pen a sloppy or sappy line, Hiatt arrived in Nashville as an eighteen year old and began writing music for a publishing company. Three Dog Night cut his song "Sure As I'm Sittin' Here," which went to the Top 20 in 1974. Signed to his own record deal shortly thereafter, fans appreicated Hiatt's cleverness, idiomatic versatility, distinctive gruff and endearing voice and slashing guitar skills.
He released eights albums before his landmark Bring the Family, whose rootsy rock-country-blues fusion earned him the honor of being named Best Male Vocalist on Rolling Stone's Critics Poll.
