Important Announcement

During these unprecedented times, Friends of the Arts (FOTA) is attempting to meet the challenge of maintaining our funding at a level that sustains the organization’s core programs.

However, the current economic environment has resulted in a significant decline in our funding sources. Regrettably, FOTA’s Board of Directors and management has decided to suspend this year’s summer concert series at Planting Fields Arboretum, pending identification of new funding sources in the next 30-45 days. We plan to continue our arts-in-education programs that serve “at-risk” students in underprivileged school districts throughout Long Island (branded under FOTA’s “ArtReach” umbrella program)as well as our Concerts at Coe Hall series.

In the coming weeks and months, FOTA’s management team and Board of Directors will continue to assess the viability of the organization’s programs in these difficult economic times.  We are considering a number of options, including an arts-in-education-only focus until the economy recovers and we can rebuild our concert sponsorships and financial strength. Naturally, our viability depends on a number of factors including the level of ongoing government support, corporate and foundation sponsorships, individual giving and a more stable economic environment.

Friends of the Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has served Long Island’s communities for over 35 years.
